THOMPSON, N.Y. — A grand jury indicted a man suspected of arson on a murder charge in a firefighter line-of-duty death, the Times-Herald Record reported.

Mohammed Islam, 33, also was indicted of fourth-degree arson, Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan announced Wednesday. Both of the charges are felonies.

According to the grand jury, he set in motion the events that led to the death of Forestburgh Fire Company #1 Assistant Chief William Steinberg, 37, in January. He had been working at the scene of a mutual-aid call triggered by the Monticello Fire Department and suffered a fatal heart attack.
