Duty Death: Ronald Ingram - [Woodford County]

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. — A veteran Kentucky fire captain died due to a medical emergency while responding to a shed fire last week, the U.S. Fire Administration announced Monday.
Woodford County Fire Protection District Capt. Ronald Ingram, 72, responded to the shed fire just after midnight on March 3 and collapsed shortly after arriving at the scene, according to the USFA. CPR was immediately initiated, and Ingram was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
“On behalf of Woodford County, we send our love and prayers to Captain Ingram’s wife and children. Woodford County is forever grateful for Ron’s service and dedication to our community,” county officials said in a statement Thursday. “Our 1st Responders are a close knit group of professionals who serve our community with great pride and distinction. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our firefighting family. Woodford County honors and celebrates Captain Ingram’s life and service. God bless Captain Ron Ingram, may he rest in eternal peace.”
Ingram served as a firefighter for more than 42 years, according to his memorial page on Supporting Heroes. The memorial states that his cause of death was a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, three children and nine grandchildren.
Ingram’s funeral and an apparatus procession in his honor will be held on Wednesday, March 10, according to a statement from Woodford County Fire Chief Melvin Montgomery.
