WARDENSVILLE, W.Va. — The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) announced the on-duty death of Firefighter Ronald “Ron” Maurice Strosnider of the Capon Valley Volunteer Fire Department on Oct. 20, 2023.

On Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, Firefighter Ronald “Ron” Maurice Strosnider responded to a medical emergency at a residence. While on the scene, he became ill and was taken home by fire department personnel. Later in the day 9-1-1 was called to his house, the USFA reported. While being transported to the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and passed away.

The cause of his death is listed as a heart attack.

The Hampshire Review stated Strosnider had a love of hunting, fishing, and racing. He is survived by his wife, daughter and six grandchildren.
