End of Service: 17/10/2018
ST. DAVID, Ariz. — A firefighter died Wednesday during a training session.
AZfamily.com reported that Saint David Fire District probationary firefighter Joshua Eugin, 36, was participating in a “blackout drill,” in which firefighters practice rescuing victims inside of a dark building, when he collapsed.
EMTs on the scene performed CPR on Eugin before a paramedic crew arrived and transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“He gave it his all,” Chief Loyal Gephart said.
Capt. Jason Todd described Eugin as a “great friend.”
“His loss has left a hole in the department,” Todd said.
Eugin, who was also a former Marine, leaves behind his fiancé, Chelsea, and his daughter, Addy.
