WASHINGTON — The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is accepting presentation proposals for its 2026 Training Summit, scheduled for June 26-27 in Arlington, Virginia. Instructors and speakers have until Oct. 20, 2025, to submit proposals for sessions designed to educate first responders on key issues in the fire and emergency services.

The annual summit provides volunteer and combination fire and EMS personnel with opportunities to network, exchange ideas and take part in hands-on training. Breakout sessions will focus on three tracks: Health, Safety, and Training; Recruitment and Retention; and Leadership. Each session will run 90 minutes.

Topics of interest include training practices, fireground operations, physical and behavioral health, fire and life safety education, generational dynamics, diversity and inclusion, mentorship, family engagement, recruitment strategies, communication, management, long-term planning, data use, technology and artificial intelligence, and funding resources.

A peer review team will evaluate proposals based on quality, relevance, practical application, and presenter qualifications. Selected presenters will be notified by Nov. 24, 2025. The NVFC will cover travel costs and provide a stipend, though only one instructor per session is eligible for reimbursement.

More details, including the Call for Presentations Guide, are available at www.nvfc.org/summit.
