CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Fire Department held intensive training with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to sharpen coordination between the two agencies.

The fire department’s Police Assist Company is trained and equipped to support CMPD SWAT teams during operations involving potential or ongoing active violence. Crews said the safety and security of citizens in affected areas, whether injured or uninjured, remains their primary concern during such incidents.
