Hall of Flame Firefighting Museum

PHOENIX — Founded in 1961 by George F. Getz Jr., the Hall of Flame Firefighting Museum in Phoenix, Arizona, stands as a tribute to the history, heroism, and safety education of firefighting. What began with a single 1924 American LaFrance fire engine gifted to Getz by his wife evolved into one of the world’s most extensive collections of fire apparatus and memorabilia.

After relocating from Wisconsin, the Hall of Flame opened in Phoenix’s Papago Park in 1974. Operated by the nonprofit National Historical Fire Foundation, the museum now spans 70,000 square feet and houses over 130 historic fire engines and thousands of firefighting artifacts. Exhibits include vintage gear, uniforms, and interactive safety displays for children.

Since 1998, its National Firefighting Hall of Heroes has honored firefighters recognized for heroism or lost in the line of duty. Supported by the Getz family and over 400 members, the museum preserves the legacy of fire service history and heroism.
