ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — Three men and one woman had been reported missing since Sunday in San Gabriel Mountains.

Four Orange County hikers were rescued by firefighters Wednesday night after being stranded in the San Gabriel Mountains, authorities said.

Three men and a woman were rescued by a helicopter crew after they went missing since Sunday, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The four hikers were identified as two Lake Forest men, ages 34 and 31; a 33-year-old man from Orange; and a 23-year-old woman from Costa Mesa.

The hikers became stranded deep in the mountains after several debris flows near the Heaton Flats Ranger Station. Fire officials were not able to reach the hikers earlier because of difficult flying conditions and debris in the area.

The four hikers, however, were able to find refuge and did not require medical attention.

It marks the second time this week that a group of Orange County hikers needed to be rescued after becoming stranded.

On Tuesday, four stranded hikers were rescued from the Holy Jim Canyon area after heavy rainfall in the area.

The four men were rescued by firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority, who had to airlift the hikers out of the area.

The four men hiked into Holy Jim Canyon hoping to see the falls during the rain, officials said.
