MELROSE PARK, Ill. — Firefighters rescued an elderly couple and their dog during a house fire Sunday morning in Melrose Park.
The man was yelling for help from a window on the second floor of a home in the 1500 block of 34th Avenue officials said. ''We got the ladder out, assisted the gentleman down, and it took a little while because he had a slight disability,” Vincent Wurtz, of the Melrose Park Fire Department, told WLS-Channel 7.
Frank Islami, of the department, told the station a woman “was a little frantic” when saved at a rear porch. “She was really concerned about her dog,” he said.
