BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder police late Saturday night rescued a sleeping 5-year-old girl from a house fire.

Police responded to the house in the 4900 block of Sioux Drive around 11:30 p.m. A man outside told them that a child likely was still inside, prompting officers Brent Biekert and Kristin Weisbach to knock down doors in the smoke-filled house, said Boulder police Sgt. Pat Wyton.

Weisbach found the girl asleep and took her out. The girl was treated and released at the scene. No one else was in the house at the time.

Firefighters from the Boulder Fire Department extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it doesn’t appear suspicious, Wyton said.
