KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. — Search and rescue efforts are underway for a missing Washington firefighter that fell off his paddleboard on Saturday.

The firefighter was paddle boarding on Cle Elum Lake with a friend on Saturday, KRO 7 reports. Harsh winds and waves knocked the two friends off the paddleboards and his friend said the firefighter was not wearing a life jacket at the time.

His friend called 911 when he was pulled out by a nearby boater. Search efforts continued Sunday for the 31-year-old man from Auburn. Authorities have not released the name of the firefighter.
