ELYRIA, Ohio — A veteran firefighter has been arrested and charged with theft in office and theft for allegedly stealing supplies from Elyria Fire Station #1.
On Friday, Elyria Fire Chief Richard Benton received information that Firefighter Jeff Castle was stealing cleaning supplies from the Elyria Fire Department Station #1. Benton was provided with a photograph of cleaning supplies that were being stored in the basement of Castle’s home in Wellington, Ohio.
Benton viewed the photograph and advised that the cleaning supplies appeared to be the same as those currently being used/purchased by the Elyria Fire Department.
