Driver dies, 2 Texas firefighters hurt in crash at scene of prior wreck

CENTERVILLE, Texas — One driver was killed and two firefighters were injured Monday in a crash on Interstate 45 in Leon County.
Emergency crews – including members of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department — were responding to a crash involving a pickup and a car around 3:20 p.m., KBTX reported.
According to the Department of Public Safety, an 18-wheeler crashed into both vehicles, injuring the firefighters.

The car’s driver was killed on the scene.
Firefighter Colton Adams, 21, was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Temple. He has injuries, and KBTX reported that he may need to have a foot or leg amputated.
Firefighter Clint Franklin, 46, also was transported but was treated and released.
The 18-wheeler driver and the pickup driver were transported but had less-serious injuries.
The crashes are under investigation.
