MANCHESTER, Mo. — The West County EMS and Fire Department in Manchester, Mo., is mourning the loss of one of its firefighters — Kevin Bacon, 39, of Waterloo.

St. Louis police said Bacon was traveling southbound in the 3200 block of South Broadway when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a median at 3:30 a.m. Saturday. The investigation into the crash continues.

A post on the fire department’s website describes Bacon as “a brave, passionate, strong and talented professional who will be sorely missed.”

In 2012, Bacon received a Class II Silver Medallion for a rescue he and his crew made of a man pinned under a car from the Greater St. Louis Fire Chief’s Association.

Bacon was a 15-year veteran EMS and firefighter.

Funeral arrangements for Bacon are pending.
