80-year-old firefighter dies en route to fire in Mo.

DIXON, Mo. — A Missouri firefighter died Thursday after suffering a medical emergency while on duty.

Dixon Rural Fire Protection District Volunteer Fire Captain Leslie “Les” Clark, 80, was driving a tanker to the scene of a reported structure fire when he warned a crew member he felt he might pass out and lost consciousness.

The other firefighter reached over and stopped the apparatus with the air brake.

Firefighters removed Captain Clark from the vehicle and began CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Visitation for Captain Clark will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Dixon. Firefighters will walk through as a group at 4:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in the same location.
