LYONS, Wis. — Josh Tauscher was a volunteer firefighter here at the Lyons Fire Department. His friends say he was a handyman — always busy, and always laughing.
“Tausche,” as he was called, was riding with friends from the fire department, when the unthinkable happened Sunday. A truck hit his motorcycle on Highway 50 and South Road in Lyons. Frank Moeller was with him.
“I’m not a certified EMT, so everyone always told me, just leave him,” shares Moeller. “They said not to touch him. It was the hardest thing not to touch him — shake him, and make him wake up.” A fire captain from the Sommers Fire Department just happened to be driving by, and sprung into action. But it wasn’t enough.
