Cause of Death: After falling through a floor while fighting a house fire, Hall succumbed to his injuries at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. A volunteer firefighter for the Upland Fire Department, Hall was a part of the attack crew at a fire that was in the home of a Marion, Ind. firefighter. The fire is believed to have started in a basement light socket with bad wiring and damaged most of the home.

Ind. firefighter dies after being trapped in burning house

UPLAND, Ind. — A volunteer firefighter who was injured when a floor collapsed beneath him in a burning home has died, fire officials said Friday.
Sidney Hall, a member of the Upland Volunteer Fire Department, became trapped him in the basement of the burning house on Wednesday. Seven other firefighters suffered lesser injuries rescuing him, authorities said.
