SHANGHAI — Shanghai is stopping at nothing to roll out the welcome mat for Mickey Mouse — including a special, Disney-themed fire-fighting force.
Though the Chinese city’s first Disneyland isn’t expected to open until later this year, on Monday, the public got a sneak peek of at least one aspect of the future Magic Kingdom. According to a report posted on the Shanghai government’s website, the park area will be equipped with 11 fire trucks and 80 firemen decorated in “Disney style.”
Will Aladdin or Cinderella be helping put out fires? Will the trucks be decorated with Mickey ears? The city notice, alas, didn’t elaborate. But according to Li Huijing, the chief engineer for Shanghai Municipal Fire Bureau, cited by the report, the group had the potential to become “the prettiest firefighting team.”
