SEATTLE — Eight firefighters were injured while putting out a house fire in Lake City on Thursday morning, the Seattle Fire Department said.
Crews responded to a fire reported at a single-family home on the 12000 block of Sand Point Way Northeast just before 2:45 a.m., the Fire Department said. The fire was reported on the exterior of the home, but also extended to inside.

Upon arrival, crews rescued a 57-year-old man from the home who was then taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition, spokesperson Kaila Lafferty said.
Part of the exterior structure of the home — likely a deck or awning — then collapsed right before 3 a.m., Lafferty said. Eight firefighters involved in the collapse sustained minor injuries, and three of them were taken to Harborview in stable condition so they could be evaluated.
Once all members of the crew were accounted for, the firefighters resumed their work putting out the fire and got it under control by about 6 a.m., Lafferty said. The fire was extinguished and crews began to overhaul and ventilate the home.
It is yet unknown what caused the fire, and the full extent of the firefighters’ injuries is unclear.
