NEW YORK — A retired FDNY firefighter died after battling 9/11-related cancer.
NY Daily News reported that 20-year FDNY veteran Michael Duffy, 63, died August 8.
Duffy began his FDNY career in 1982 and was at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks. He retired in 2002.
“He comes from a very proud firehouse,” Uniformed Firefighters Association President Gerard Fitzgerald said. “This is a terrific loss to the members of the firehouse, the retirees and people in the Gerritsen Beach community where he lived.”
Duffy is survived by his wife.
