HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue hosted a Spouse Academy to give firefighters’ families a closer look at the demands of the job.

The event offered participants an overview of the risks, challenges and commitment involved in firefighting before giving them hands-on experience in the afternoon.

Spouses wore full bunker gear and took part in vehicle extrication, search and rescue drills and CPR practice.
