Mont. firefighters rescue puppy stuck in tire

Firefighters used coconut oil to gently pull and squeeze Blaze’s head from the wheel

BUTTE, Mont. — Firefighters took on a different kind of “Blaze” this week.

Butte-Silver Bow firefighters responded to a coonhound puppy whose head was stuck in the tire of his owner’s car. The puppy, named Blaze, managed to trap himself in the owner’s tire; his owner said he left Blaze for a few hours in the backyard.

Instead of extraction tools, firefighters used coconut oil to gently pull and squeeze Blaze’s head from the wheel.

Blaze suffered some minor neck swelling, but is expected to be OK.

“Hopefully this was a valuable lesson for young Blaze, and we won’t have to respond to any more menacing incidents involving this playful puppy,” the department wrote on its Facebook page.
