SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — Firefighters from three departments employed three firefighting apparatus, two boats and an all-terrain vehicle, Tuesday to rescue a dog that fell off a 10-foot cliff at Jaycee Quarry View Park in Sheboygan.

The dog, a Springer Spaniel named Lacy, went over the cliff shortly after 6 p.m. and landed in the water before becoming trapped on the cliff’s ledge near the waterline, according to a news release from the City of Sheboygan Fire Department.

Three city firefighting apparatus, one with an inflatable boat, responded to the scene, while the department requested a boat from the Kohler Fire Department and a 6X6 ATV from the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department, according to the release.

A city firefighter lowered by a rope and harness through heavy brush retrieved Lacy and both were assisted onto one of the boats, which was launched with the use of the ATV, and taken back to the beach launch area, according to the release.

Lacy was cold and wet but uninjured, according to the release.

“It was a water dog and it did pretty well in the water,” said Battalion Chief Gary Kolberg. “It was nice that we were able to get to it.”

Kolberg said the owner was happy to get her dog back.

“He was a rescue dog,” he said. “And he was one again.”
