STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — An apartment fire left one woman dead and three others injured Wednesday night.
Click On Detroit reported that the fire started at 11 p.m. and took firefighters almost two hours to extinguish. Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion while battling the fire.
Many of the residents were sleeping when the blaze started; some were trapped inside by smoke and fire.
“I first came around the corner ... the top half of the left house was like burnt, and that’s when my dad started calling the police, and then we both started knocking on the (apartment doors),” resident Sargon Nasser said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
