MACON-BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Three firefighters from the Macon-Bibb Fire Department were taken to the hospital after their fire truck flipped over Wednesday evening, Macon-Bibb County officials confirmed.

Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Macon-Bibb E-911 Center around 5 p.m. of a single-vehicle collision involving a fire engine at the intersection of College Street and Magnolia Street, the sheriff’s office said. The fire truck was overturned and three firemen were injured.

Video of the incident showed the truck on its side, near the downtown Macon post office.

They were transported to Atrium Health Navicent, and “all three were released yesterday evening,” Macon communications officer Chris Floore said Thursday morning.

“There were no serious injuries,” Floore said. “Just bruised and sore, thankfully.”

The three firemen will have follow-up appointments on their injuries “to make sure,” Floore said.

The collision was under investigation Thursday.
