PENDLETON COUNTY, Ky. — A firefighter was airlifted to a hospital Thursday morning after crashing a firetruck in Northern Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police.

The crash happened on KY 177 in Pendleton County. KSP said a Northern Pendleton County Fire Department firetruck was unable to navigate a left turn and went into a creek.

Rob Braun, with the Pendleton County Emergency Management Agency, said one firefighter was injured in the crash. The firefighter was 29 and called dispatch himself to report the wreck. He told officials the tanker truck wouldn’t brake, and he lost control going down a hill.

The firefighter was extricated from the truck and flown to the University of Cincinnati Hospital, according to KSP. No other details about the firefighter’s medical condition were provided.

The firefighter was responding to a call when the wreck happened, according to Braun.
