LEACH, Okla. — Officials located two fire trucks that were stolen from two volunteer fire departments Thursday morning.
Authorities discovered the Leach and Oaks departments’ fire trucks via a helicopter search in a heavily wooded area, reported Tulsa World.
Undersheriff Jason Chennault said officials were struggling to reach the trucks due to the rugged terrain of the area. He said both trucks appear to be damaged, but could not confirm to what extent.
Derrick Lee Taylor, 30, was taken into custody by state troopers. Taylor initially denied being involved with the theft; he was booked into county jail for unrelated charges. Officials said it is likely he will be charged with the theft of the vehicles.
Police are still searching for another suspect in connection to the theft.
