HOYT, Kan. — A Kansas firefighter died Wednesday when the the tire of his tanker truck blew out for an unknown reason.
WIBW 13 News reported the truck crossed the highway median and rolled over before landing in a ditch
The driver of the truck, volunteer firefighter Michael Schultz, 47, was killed. Another firefighter, Randy Smith, 36, was taken to the hospital with injuries.
“Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Schultz family during this horrible loss,” Sheriff Tim Morse said on his Facebook page. “Pray for the speedy recovery of Firefighter Randy Smith.”
