Man drives into fire truck, sues Mass. firefighter

Maximillion Piccolomini claims Methuen Firefighter John Paintigini left fire truck parked in travel lane so he could buy ice cream

METHUEN, Mass. — A man who drove his car into the back of a Mass. fire truck three years ago is suing for injuries he suffered in the crash.

Maximillion Piccolomini claims Methuen Firefighter John Paintigini left the fire truck parked in a travel lane so he could buy an ice cream, according to The Eagle-Tribune.

“Mr. Piccolomini could not see the fire truck due to the fact that it was unlit, and the weather was extreme low lying fog,” Piccolomini said in a complaint seeking $75,000.

The lawsuit says Piccolomini has undergone multiple treatments and medical procedures since the accident, resulting in “pain, suffering, extensive periods of recovery and rehabilitation.”

Piccolomini, who was 17 at the time of the crash, suffered a collapsed lung, neck and back strain, bruises and contusions in the crash, according to the article.

The city, the Methuen Fire Department and Firefighter Paintigini are named as defendants in the lawsuit, the report said.

Piccolomini was cited for a traffic violation at the time of the crash. He didn’t see the fire truck “until it was too late,” Sgt. Larry Phillips wrote in his report.
