ST. PETERS, Mo. — For the second time in less than a year, a Mo. fire fire truck has been struck on the highway.
A Central County Fire & Rescue ladder truck was leaving the scene of a car accident when it was hit from behind, according to a release.
The driver of the car reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and rammed into the apparatus, causing significant damage.
Firefighters said that they had followed all national safety recommendations and regulations.
“Luckily, no firefighters were injured and the driver of the car only suffered minor injuries,” Fire Chief Russ Mason said in a release.
Another truck from the company was hit in January. The driver of the car died.
Officials say it will take months to repair the damage.
