2 Pittsburgh firefighters arrested in separate incidents

With these cases, at least nine city firefighters have been arrested on various charges in the past 14 months

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh fire Chief Darryl Jones declined comment yesterday on the arrests of two city firefighters in separate incidents over the weekend.

Nicholas Florian, 24, of Beechview and his brother were arrested early Saturday on charges of beating up a man in the South Side. Nicholas Florian was charged with aggravated assault and released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Erik Vater, 40, of Westwood was arrested late Friday in Green Tree and charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.

With these cases, at least nine city firefighters have been arrested on various charges in the past 14 months.
