CARMEL, N.Y. — A Carmel man who was a New York City firefighter was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl at a residential facility operated by his wife.

The district attorney said the guilty plea spared the girl and her family from having to testify at a trial.
