MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee firefighter was arrested at a fire department facility while on duty and is facing a charge of sexual assault against a child under the age of 16.
Fire Lt. Robert Olson, 44, was arrested Wednesday morning while in uniform, according to FOX 6.
The Milwaukee Fire Department said in a news release Monday they have opened an internal investigation and are taking the matter seriously.
Olson is accused of sexual assaulting a 14-year-old girl multiple times, and prosecutors say he sent her messages saying, “I am so sorry got (sic) what happened, I didn’t mean to, please don’t go, please don’t tell anyone.”
Prosecutors said additional message he sent to family members of the girl read, “in the last three months since this happened, I have done a ton of work to regain trust. I have already made extreme life changes and carry this every day like a 100-pound weight no matter what it looks like on the outside.”
A judge set a cash bond of $7,500 for Olson on Monday and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Dec. 2.
