WALDO, Wis. — A 20-year-old former Waldo volunteer firefighter has accepted a plea deal in a nearly three-year-old arson case.
Andrew M. Edler appeared in Sheboygan County Circuit Court Thursday, where he pleaded no contest to arson and possession of a Molotov cocktail in connection with a pair of 2011 arson fires in the Town of Lima that he’s accused of setting.
As part of the plea agreement, the prosecution will recommend that Edler serve three years prison followed by six years extended supervision and pay $7,358 in restitution. One other count of arson was dismissed. Judge Terence Bourke is not bound by that recommendation, which he made clear to Edler during Thursday’s hearing.
