OKLAHOMA CITY — A new law in Okla. would keep convicted arsonists from working as firefighters.
Gov. Mary Fallin signed the bill into law Monday, according to the Associated Press.
The author of the bill, Okla. Rep. James Lockhart, said firefighters requested it after a convicted arsonist joined a volunteer squad in his district.
He was surprised the law wasn’t already on the books, he told AP.
