NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — A North Tonawanda volunteer firefighter who received a threatening and racist letter earlier this week found his home burned down on Wednesday.

Kenneth Walker and his wife were out of the house with their two children when the fire started, but their two cats were lost in the blaze.

The fire occurred following an anonymous letter Walker received stating black people “are not allowed to be firefighters.” The letter said he should resign from his position at the fire department, “or you will regret it.”

Investigators have not confirmed if the letter is connected with the fire, but WKBW News reports the FBI is now looking into the case.

In the meantime, concerned parties have started a Go Fund Me account whose proceeds will go to Walker and his family.
