KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Sevier County man was arrested Wednesday and charged with arson in an overnight house fire, authorities said.
Troy Scott Pack, 34, allegedly set fire to his home at 2948 Old Newport Highway in Sevierville, according to a news release from Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals.
The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 8:54 p.m. from Pack’s home stating that it was on fire, according to Seals. Authorities arrived on the scene to find the structure fully engulfed, the release states.
A witness at the scene told officers the fire may have been intentionally set, the release continues.
A Sheriff’s Office arson investigator determined Pack started the blaze, the release states.
He later was found at another location off Lafollette Cemetery Road and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support, the release states.
“Upon being questioned about the fire by investigators Pack gave an incriminating statement about his involvement in the setting of the fire,” Seals stated in the release.
Pack was charged with one count of arson. He was being held in the Sevier County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
