Ohio firefighter dies in off-duty ATV crash

Casey Klein was discovered by a train operator who called 911 to report an ATV that had crashed into a ditch

VERNON, Ohio — A firefighter died Wednesday in an ATV crash, according to officials.

Tribune Chronicle reported that Warren Fire Department firefighter Casey Klein, 42, was found by a train operator who told 911 an ATV was on top of a man who was not moving in a ditch.

The 911 report said it appeared that Klein lost control in a swamp area, and a medical helicopter was initially called to the scene, but was later canceled.

Klein was with the Warren Fire Department for 17 years and was also an Air Force veteran.
