RICHMOND, Va. — Firefighters are helping raise funds after a colleague’s son was diagnosed with cancer.

Richmond firefighter Courtland Lambert’s 3-year-old son, Caleb, was diagnosed with stage three neuroblastoma.

Firefighters created a GoFundMe page to help pay for Caleb’s medical costs. As of Monday, over $11,000 has been raised.

“The mass is quite large and surrounds his aorta and renal artery,” according to the GoFundMe page. “Caleb will have to endure a blood transfusion, biopsy and a bone marrow test followed by five to six rounds of chemotherapy before any surgery can be performed. Caleb will have to travel back and forth to the hospital every 28 days for five days of treatment.”

Lambert is a 15-year veteran with the department and also works part-time to support his family.
