LEWISTON, N.Y. — The Lewiston Fire Company announced Thursday that one of their youngest firefighters died after a three-year battle with brain cancer.
Nathan J. Brundage, 19, was an interior firefighter with the company and battled stage four brain cancer for three years. Brundage’s one goal was to beat cancer and “eventually become a professional firefighter,” the fire company wrote on Facebook.
Brundage was diagnosed with glioblastoma in December 2013. In January 2014, Brundage underwent brain surgery to reduce the size of the tumor in order to pursue aggressive forms of radiation and chemotherapy, according to the Brundy’s Brigade Facebook page.
“His kind heart, ‘never give up’ attitude, and giving nature have touched the lives of all who knew him,” wrote the company.
