DRUMRIGHT, Okla. — There are heavy hearts all over Drumright after Fire Chief Wade Guyer lost his battle with cancer. He’d been with the fire department for 20 years.

News On 6 interviewed him a few years ago when wildfires kept small departments like Drumright’s working night and day for nearly a week keeping people safe. Chief Guyer told us then it’s about neighbor helping neighbor.

“We band together, when the call goes out everybody comes together and we all go fight this fire as one,” he said. His fellow firefighters say that’s the kind of person he was — he gave his heart and soul to the community.
