LAS VEGAS, N.M. — After local wildfires forced evacuations, one little league team whose season was canceled decided to give back to those working the front lines.

The Las Vegas Little League team held an event for first responders and evacuees to get a hamburger, hot dog and other refreshments for free on Tuesday night, KRQUE News reported.

“There’s been so many people here that – they don’t have much but they’re still trying to take care of each other,” said Mia Yara, who is affiliated with the team.

Food supplies were donated by community members, local grocery stores and the team’s own stockpile.

The group plans to offer refreshments again on Thursday.
