New York Daily News reported that the patients were transported to the hospital after most of them reported nausea symptoms from an unknown cause, according to Highlands County Public Safety Director Marc Bashoor.

HCFR said none of the illnesses were serious, but the Highlands County Health Department is investigating the incident.

A representative of the camp said the patients who were transported to the hospital have since been released.

“4-H Camp Cloverleaf is maintained and cleaned on a regular basis to ensure the health and safety of campers,” a statement from the camp said. “All camp staff are trained to respond to medical emergencies, and they are certified in first aid and CPR. The UF/IFAS Extension 4-H youth development program is cooperating with the Highlands County Department of Health to determine the cause of the illness and necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.”
