HOUSTON — A six-year-old girl and other youngsters are on a mission to make sure Houston firefighters don’t have to pay out of pocket for sports drinks.
Houston native Kylie, 6, discovered firefighters like her uncle have to pay for electrolyte-heavy drinks themselves, so she started Mission: Hydrate Houston to raise money and help local firefighters.
Her mission inspired a group of preschoolers to get involved as well. The Learning Experience Schools partnered with the organization and donated 547 gallons of sports drinks to firefighters.
