LONG BEACH, Calif. — City officials announced today that 18-year Long Beach Fire Department veteran Mike DuRee has been named the new fire chief.
DuRee succeeds Alan Patalano, who retired in March.
In making the announcement, City Manager Pat West said, “Mike DuRee has extensive experience in the fire service, and an unmatched history in the Long Beach Fire Department.”
DuRee has been serving as the interim deputy chief responsible for the Fire Prevention Bureau.
DuRee has been with the Fire Department since 1994.
He is a fifth-generation City of Long Beach employee and a fourth- generation firefighter.
