OUACHITA PARISH, La. — A Louisiana district fire chief died due to COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Ouachita Parish Fire Department District Chief Chris Lenard had been battling the virus for more than two weeks and developed pneumonia in both of his lungs, the department said in a Facebook post Oct. 16. Lenard was sedated and placed on a ventilator.
The department announced that Lenard “passed away peacefully tonight” on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
A funeral service for Lenard will be held on Saturday with visitation scheduled for Friday.
“Please continue to pray for his family as they go through this difficult time,” the department wrote. “Chief Lenard you will be greatly missed.”
