LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) captain died due to COVID-19 on New Year’s Day.
LAFD Capt. George Roque, 57, a 22-year veteran of the department, died Friday due to virus complications, according to a statement from LAFD Chief Ralph M. Terrazas. He is survived by his wife and four children.
“On behalf of the men and women of the LAFD, I send my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Roque family and his friends and colleagues throughout the Department,” Terrazas stated.
