WARREN, Ohio — An Ohio fire lieutenant has died due to COVID-19 complications.

Warren Fire Department Lt. Don Beauchene, 54, who served for more than 25 years with the department, was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Nov. 10 and placed on a ventilator about four days later, according to WFMJ. He died Tuesday, one week after his diagnosis.

Beauchene is survived by his wife Michelle and their 11 children. He is remembered for a dedicated life of service, volunteering for charities, going to New York to assist after 9/11 and to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

A Meal Train fundraiser has been set up to help support the family. According to the fundraiser, Beauchene was diagnosed with pneumonia and COPD at the same time he was diagnosed with COVID-19.

My heart is saddened on the loss of Lieutenant Don Beauchene. We send or deepest condolences to his wife Michelle and their children. Please keep them in your prayers.
