EMT accused of improper relationship with junior firefighter

The EMT allegedly exchanged sexually explicit photos and videos with the junior firefighter for several months

COLLINGDALE, Pa. — An EMT is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old junior firefighter.

6ABC.com reported Melissa Givens, an EMT who is married to the chief of the Norwood Fire Department, turned herself in Monday. Authorities said the relationship allegedly lasted several months.

An investigation began Feb. 25 after authorities were contacted by a police chief regarding the “inappropriate communication,” DelcoTimes.com reported. Givens told detectives she knew the junior firefighter’s age and admitted to sending pictures and videos of herself to him and that she received sexually explicit images of him in return.

Given has been charged with possession of child pornography, unlawful contact with a minor involving obscene and other sexual materials and performances, criminal use of a communication facility, dissemination of explicit sexual material and corruption of minors. She has since been released from a class to potentially become a Delaware County Emergency Communications dispatcher, according to the report.

She was arraigned on the charges in front of a district court and was freed on $300,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for March 15.
