LAS VEGAS — A fire station has lost its designation as a youth crisis intervention location after a fire captain allegedly had sex with a teenage girl.
Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Las Vegas Fire Department Station 47 took down its “Safe Place” signs after Richard Odell Loughry, 46, was arrested last week for allegedly paying a 15-year-old girl $300 for sex.
“We don’t want any youth traffic there whatsoever,” Arash Ghafoori, executive director of the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, said.
The Safe Place program gives youth facing homelessness or unsafe living conditions a place to ask for help. Station 47 is the only fire station to have the designation revoked, according to the report.
Capt. Loughry told police he did not know the girl was underage; he was charged with two counts of statutory sexual seduction, three counts of lewdness with a child younger than 16, two counts of child abuse, neglect or endangerment and one count of soliciting prostitution of a minor.
There appears to be no connection between the alleged solicitation and the Safe Place program at the fire station.
